An experience of elegance and relaxation ...
in the heart of Trieste!
A building steeped in history in a cosmopolitan, central European city
Triestinn
The suite is located in a recently fully-restored building overlooking Piazza della Borsa, just a stone's throw from Piazza Unità d'Italia - the symbol of Trieste.
The building was built in 1770 in the Baroque style as the home of a prestigious Viennese tailor who had moved to Trieste. Ownership passed in 1785 to the stockbroker Pietro Antonio Romano, after whom the building was named. It later became the first home of the library of Lloyd Austriaco, a kind of specialised 'literary café', where shipowners, insurers, bankers, shippers and other businessmen from the shipping world met. A building steeped in history located in the Borgo Teresiano - an aristocratic quarter commissioned by Maria Theresa, the first Empress of Austria, in the mid-18th century. It had been created by silting up the salt pans and thus became one of the earliest examples of modern urban planning. It is the beating heart of Trieste, surrounded by historic cafes, restaurants and shops. A dynamic and pleasant neighbourhood overlooking the sea.
